Wireless AMBER Alerts Website Privacy Policy

Your privacy on the Internet is important to us. Since we may collect certain types of information from users of this Website, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding how that information is used. This privacy statement details what information we collect and how we use it. Amendments to this privacy statement will be posted at this URL and will be effective when posted. We will post a notice at the homepage of the Website if such amendments are a material change to this privacy policy. Your continued use of this site following the posting of any amendment, modification or change shall constitute your acceptance thereof.

We collect non-personally identifiable information about you in a number of ways, including tracking your activities through your IP address, computer settings or most-recently visited URL. From time to time, we may also ask you to provide certain non-personally identifiable information about yourself, such as your age, household income, your profession, your wireless service provider, etc.

We also collect personally identifiable information that you voluntarily submit to the Wireless AMBER Alerts Website by, for example, filling out the registration or profile form to subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alert Services. The types of information that may be requested include your ZIP code, e-mail address, and wireless telephone number.

Any information voluntarily provided by you is used by The Wireless Foundation (“Foundation”) and its Wireless AMBER Alerts’ technology partner, Syniverse, to make sure that appropriate Wireless AMBER Alert messages are delivered to your subscribed wireless device based upon the ZIP codes for which you have requested to receive AMBER Alerts. The Foundation and Syniverse may retain this information to update and synchronize the Wireless AMBER Alerts database with the wireless carriers’ database to make sure that Wireless AMBER Alerts messages are correctly delivered to wireless subscribers who have opted-in to the Wireless AMBER Alerts service. If you subscribe to the Wireless AMBER Alerts service then change to another wireless carrier, the Wireless AMBER Alert opt-in subscription service expires. You will need to contact your new carrier to determine if that carrier participates in the Wireless AMBER Alerts program and, if so, re-subscribe to the Wireless AMBER Alert service. You may opt-out of receiving information or communication from the Foundation by using the “unsubscribe” function on this web site or (where available) by sending a text message to short code 26237 (AMBER) with “unsubscribe” in the heading.

We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with the server hosting the Wireless AMBER Alerts Website and to administer the Website.

When you view the Wireless AMBER Alerts Website, we may store some information on your computer. This information will be in the form of a "cookie" or similar file. The Wireless AMBER Alerts Website uses industry standard security measures to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
