Wireless AMBER Alerts Log On

When you navigate to Wireless AMBER Alerts, you will be prompted for your phone number:

  1. Enter your 10-digit wireless telephone number, including area code.
  2. To clear your entry, click Reset.
  3. Click Submit.
  4. If you are a first-time subscriber, you must accept the Terms and Conditions. The Subscription page appears, enabling you to create a subscription.
  5. If you are an existing subscriber, you must enter a password. The Subscription page appears, enabling you to: modify a subscription, reset a password, unsubscribe, view my alerts or view all alerts.

Entering a Password

If you are an existing subscriber to Wireless AMBER Alerts, you must enter a password when you log on.

  1. Enter a password of 4 - 15 characters, and then click Submit.
  2. To auto generate a new password at any time, click Reset.
  3. To return to the initial Logon page, click Cancel.

Create a New Subscription

This function enables you to subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts. At this point you have agreed to the Terms and Conditions.
Note: When a Wireless AMBER Alert is initiated by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, a list of recipient ZIP Codes is provided with the message. If the ZIP Codes listed with the message match any of the ZIP Codes entered on this page, you receive the Wireless AMBER Alert.

  1. From the Subscription page, click Create Subscription. The Subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts page appears.
  2. Enter up to five ZIP Codes for which you would like to receive a Wireless AMBER Alert. You must enter at least one. If you are unsure of a ZIP Code, click Look Up to look up a ZIP Code by city and state via a ZIP Code Lookup page.
  3. To change your ZIP Code, type over the existing ZIP Code in the text box.
  4. To delete a ZIP Code, highlight the ZIP Code and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
  5. If you would like to be notified of the new subscription and password via e-mail (in addition to the handset), enter your e-mail address.
  6. To clear the screen of your entries, click Reset.
  7. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  8. Click Submit. The Create Password page appears.
  9. Complete your entries on the Create Password page, and then click Submit. The Subscription page appears, detailing entries that you completed. A notification message regarding the account information is sent to your handset and e-mail address (if provided).

ZIP Code search

You can use this function to find a ZIP Code by entering the city name and selecting a state.

  1. From the Subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts or Modify Subscription page, click Look Up next to a ZIP Code text box. The ZIP Code Lookup Screen appears.
  2. Enter a city name in the City text box.
  3. Select a state by clicking the State drop down arrow.
  4. To clear the screen of your entries, click Reset.
  5. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  6. Click Submit. A list of ZIP Code choices appears.
  7. Click the option button in the Select ZIP Code column corresponding to the ZIP Code of your choice.
  8. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  9. Click Submit. The Subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts or Modify Subscription page reappears, and the city name and state display next to the ZIP Code.

Create Password

When you subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts, you are required to provide a random password or a password of your choice.

  1. When you click Submit after completing the entries on the Subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts page, a Create Password page appears.
  2. To let Wireless AMBER Alerts service assign a password, select the Auto-generate option.
  3. To enter a password of your choice, click the second option, and then type and re-type the password in the appropriate text boxes.
  4. To clear the screen of your entries, click Reset.
  5. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  6. Click Submit.

Modify a Subscription

When you modify a subscription, you have the option to update your ZIP Codes or enter/change your e-mail address.

  1. From the Subscription page, click Modify Subscription.
  2. A list of currently activated ZIP Codes and your e-mail address (optional) appear.
  3. Modify an existing ZIP Code by typing over it, or add a new ZIP Code in the blank text boxes provided. If you are unsure of a ZIP Code, click Look Up to find a ZIP Code by city and state via the ZIP Code Lookup page.
  4. To delete a ZIP Code, highlight the ZIP Code and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
  5. Modify the (optional) e-mail address by typing over it, or enter an e-mail address for the first time.
  6. To clear the screen of your entries, click Reset.
  7. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  8. Click Submit. The Subscription page appears and contains your updated account information. A notification message regarding the modified account is sent to your handset and e-mail address (if provided).

Reset Password

This function enables you to change your password.

  1. From the Subscription page, click Reset Password. A Modify Password page appears.
  2. To let Wireless AMBER Alerts assign a password, select the Auto-generate option.
  3. To enter a password of your choice, click the second option, and then type and re-type the password in the appropriate text boxes. A confirmation and password will be sent to your handset and e-mail (if provided).
  4. To clear the screen of your entries, click Reset.
  5. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  6. Click Submit.
  7. Re-enter your password at the prompt that appears. Click Submit.
  8. The Subscription page reappears.

Unsubscribing

This function enables you to cancel a subscription to Wireless AMBER Alerts.

  1. From the Subscription page, click Unsubscribe. You are asked to confirm your selection.
  2. If you choose to unsubscribe, the Logon page reappears, and the subscription is canceled. A notification message is sent to your handset and e-mail address (if provided).

    If you are a Nextel iDEN subscriber and wish to cancel your subscription to Wireless AMBER Alerts, please contact The Wireless Foundation to perform this function.

Viewing My Alerts

When you view your received alerts, the display begins with a list of Wireless AMBER Alerts that have been sent to your account within the last 90 days. You can then select a single alert and drill down to see more detail.

  1. From the Subscription page, click View My Alerts. The AMBER Alerts page appears.
  2. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  3. To view details about a particular alert, click the Alert ID from the Alert ID column. The View Alert Detail page appears.
  4. To view the ZIP Codes and cities that received the alert, click Delivery Area from the View Alert Detail page. The Delivery Area page appears.

View Alert Detail

The View Alert Detail page appears when you click an Alert ID from the AMBER Alerts page. It displays the content of the message and duplicates the information that appears on the previous page.

Delivery Area

The Delivery Area page appears when you click Delivery Area from the View Alert Detail page. It displays the ZIP Codes and cities where the alert was delivered, for the Wireless AMBER Alerts that you received.

View All Alerts Overview

When you select a state to view, the display begins with a list of Wireless AMBER Alerts that have been sent to subscribers in the selected state within the last 90 days. You can then select a single alert and drill down to see more detail.

  1. After selecting a state from the Query AMBER Alerts page, the View Alerts page appears.
  2. To return to the previous page, click Cancel.
  3. To view details about a particular alert, click the Alert ID from the Alert ID column. The View Alert Detail page appears.
  4. To view the ZIP Codes and cities that received the alert, click Delivery Area from the View Alert Detail page. The Delivery Area page appears.

View Alerts

The View Alerts page displays a list of Wireless AMBER Alerts sent to subscribers in the selected state within the last 90 days.

Logging Off

To log off from Wireless AMBER Alerts, click Log Off near the upper right corner of the page. The Wireless AMBER Alerts Log On page appears.

Opting In and Out Overview

Using only their wireless device, most wireless subscribers can subscribe (opt in) to Wireless AMBER Alerts, or cancel (opt out) the subscription.

Upon originating a text message to short code 26237 (AMBER), you can enter keywords that enable enrollment (ex. Subscribe), cancellation (ex. Stop), ZIP Code entries or changes, or access to Help instructions.

You receive a short message back indicating a successful action. If the keywords cannot be recognized, you receive a message suggesting appropriate entries.

Upon enrolling, you are assigned a random password that can be used to access www.wirelessamberalerts.org. After logging on to the web site, you can change the random password to a more meaningful one.

Requesting Help using your Wireless Device

Using your handset, you can request brief instructions that include how to subscribe, modify ZIP Codes and cancel a subscription.

  1. Send to short code 26237 (AMBER), and then enter the keyword help or HELP.
  2. A set of instructions appears on your handset.

    Example: "Send to 26237. To enroll/modify: keyword AMBER + up to 5 zip codes (e.g., AMBER 12345). To Cancel: keyword STOP. More info: www.wirelessamberalerts.org

Subscribing with your Wireless Device

Most customers can follow these instructions to subscribe to Wireless AMBER Alerts using their wireless device.

  1. Send to short code 26237 (AMBER), and then enter any of these keywords followed by a space:

    AMBER or amber
    SUBSCRIBE or subscribe

  2. Enter one to five ZIP Codes (separated by commas or one or more spaces) for which you would like to receive a Wireless AMBER Alert. If you enter more than five, only the first five will be accepted.

    Example: SUBSCRIBE 33602 33594 33606 33511 33597

  3. Upon completion, you will receive a short confirmation message that includes a random password assigned to you. Use this password the first time you log on to www.wirelessamberalerts.org.

    Example: "AMBER: Enrolled for AMBER Alerts. Password: 1234. ZIP Codes: 33602, 33594, 33606, 33511, 33597. To Stop: Send to 26237 keyword STOP. More info: keyword HELP"
Verizon Wireless customers with handsets capable of text messaging can also sign up for Wireless AMBER Alerts by sending a TXT Message to the address AMBER (26237) right from their wireless phones. The body of the message should include a five-digit ZIP Code indicating the state or geographical area for which they would like to receive Wireless AMBER Alerts. Customers will receive a reply message confirming they have signed up for the Alert, along with instructions on how to cancel the service.

Modifying ZIP Codes using your Wireless Device

Follow these instructions to change the ZIP codes that you previously entered, using your handset.

  1. Send to the short code 26237 (AMBER), and then enter any of these keywords followed by a space:

    AMBER or amber SUBSCRIBE or subscribe

  2. Enter up to five ZIP Codes (separated by commas or one or more spaces) for which you would like to receive a Wireless AMBER Alert. You must enter at least one. If you enter more than five, only the first five will be accepted.

    Example: SUBSCRIBE 33602 33594 33606 33511 33610

    Note: To retain previously entered ZIP Codes, you must re-enter them with the new ZIP Codes.

  3. Upon completion, you will receive a short message confirming your changes.

    Example: "AMBER: Your new settings: ZIPCODES : 33602 33594 33606 33511 33610 To Stop: Send to 23237 keyword STOP. More info: keyword HELP"

Canceling a Subscription using your Wireless Device

Follow these instructions to cancel a subscription to Wireless AMBER Alerts using your handset.

  1. Send to the short code 26237 (AMBER), and then enter one of these keywords:

    CANCEL
    END
    QUIT
    STOP
    UNSUBSCRIBE

  2. You will receive a short message confirming your cancellation.

    Example: "AMBER: Your subscription to receive AMBER alerts is now cancelled. To re-enroll, Send to 26237 keyword AMBER + up to 5 zip codes. More info: keyword HELP "
